Brisbane Cremation is Local, Family Owned and Operated

Viewing

A viewing or visitation, is a gathering held before a cremation, allowing family and friends to say their final goodbyes to their Loved One. This intimate event usually takes place at our funeral home in Underwood, providing a space for loved ones to come together in support and remembrance.

We have proudly supported over 5,000 families across South East Queensland, delivering exceptional service with unmatched compassion every step of the way. Your trust in us is our greatest honour, and we’re committed to providing the highest standard of care.

What Happens During the Viewing?

During the viewing, your Loved One will be presented in a bed rather than a coffin. This setting allows attendees to pay their respects, share memories, and express their grief, without the barrier of a coffin, giving you the space to spend time with your Loved One in a way that is personal and meaningful. Our visitation room is soft, welcoming, and provides you with a safe space to express your grief with those closest to you.

Viewings at our Underwood Funeral Home typically last for up to 60 minutes. They provide an opportunity for healing, allowing mourners to process their emotions and find solace in the company of others who are experiencing similar feelings.

For many, a viewing is an essential part of the grieving process, offering a moment to reflect on the life of the deceased, celebrate their legacy, and begin the journey of acceptance. It serves as a bridge between life and death, facilitating closure and connection during a challenging time.

Can I play Music During the Viewing?

Playing music during a viewing or visitation can have a profound impact on the grieving process for families. Music has a unique ability to evoke memories, emotions, and comfort during times of sorrow. For many, the right music helps create a peaceful and reflective atmosphere, providing a sense of solace in a space filled with loss. It can serve as a tribute to the life of the deceased, capturing their personality, values, or favourite songs, which often brings comfort to the bereaved.

Music also helps bring families together emotionally, offering a shared experience in which words may not be necessary. It often encourages quiet reflection and helps mourners connect with their feelings, which can be difficult to express during such overwhelming times. Importantly, the presence of music can provide structure to the service, offering moments of calm and allowing time for people to process their grief.

Incorporating music into a viewing or visitation adds a personal, meaningful touch that helps families honour their loved ones. It serves as a gentle reminder of the joy, love, and memories shared, helping to ease the burden of grief and guiding them through their journey toward healing.

Our viewing room at Underwood not only provides a high quality Bluetooth compatible sound system, but we even have a piano in the room for those families with musically gifted members to add a personal touch to the viewing experience.
